It is official: Battlefield 1 will have six different multiplayer modes and a total of nine maps. One of such maps is going to be available in December.
The recent confirmation comes as game developers at EA DICE ready the first-person shooter game for release. Tech Times has previously learned, for instance, that Battlefield 1 is expected to roll out to the PS4 on Oct. 21.
At first, there are nine maps with one other to be released for free during the holiday. This means that Battlefield 1 will feature one less location than Battlefield 4. One of the maps, the Sinai Desert, is already familiar to players since it was made available during the game's highly successful open beta period.
Other locations include Ballroom Blitz, Argonne Forest, Amiens, Suez, St. Quentin Scar, Monte Grappa, Empire's Edge and Fao Fortress. The free map is called Giant's Shadow and uses the Battle of the Selle as backdrop. Like the Sinai Desert, this map will also include armored train and plenty of tanks that would be slugging it out near a crashed airship.
In the base game, the six modes include Conquest, Domination, Rush, Team Deathmatch, Operations and War Pigeons. These last two modes are new additions. Operation has a unique gameplay in the sense that it involves interconnected rounds. Teams fight over several maps that are based on actual World War I battles.
War Pigeon, on the other hand, is inspired by the manner pigeons and dogs were used as messengers during World War I due to the unreliability of man-made communication systems. Once the game starts, the warring teams need to capture a pigeon coop. The team that secures a messenger pigeon will have the capability to unleash an artillery strike on the enemy.
Each of the Battlefield 1 maps are already described in detail, although some information are still missing. For example, folks at DICE have yet to confirm the number of players that will constitute each team for Team Deathmatch. A quick review of EA's website for maps and modes reveal scant details in this particular area.
Battlefield 1's will be available in Standard, Deluxe, Exclusive Collector's Edition (Standard) and Exclusive Collector's Edition (Deluxe) versions. They retail at $59.96, $79.96, $189.99 and $209.99 respectively. Gamers who will order Battlefield 1 stands to snag freebies and unique items such as what Amazon is offering.
"Preorder Battlefield 1 and get the Hellfighter Pack, containing themed items inspired by the heroic Harlem Hellfighter infantry regiment. Also includes 7 days early access to a map released later in 2016. Codes will be emailed to customers after release of game," the company said.
