Rocket League is one of the best video games available right now in Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. PlayStation 4 players who are making plans to pick up a PS4 Pro in a few months will be glad to know that the developer of the game, Psyonix, could improve the title for the new console.
Everyone should know by now that the PS4 Pro is an improved PlayStation 4 with double the GPU power and an overclocked processor. It also comes with a 1 TB hard drive and Sony promises it can deliver games at 4K resolutions.
Nothing has been decided right now, but the developer has not closed the doors and the possibility.
In an interview with GameSpot, Vice President of Psyonix, Jeremy Dunham, said the developer is currently evaluating technical requirements among other things.
"We don't have anything to announce at the moment," he said. "We are still evaluating community interest, technical requirements, and other factors that influence our ultimate decision."
There's a good chance we might see an improved Rocket League for the PS4 Pro seeing as the game is played quite a lot on the original PlayStation 4. It's one of the most standout video games of this generation, and it has garnered a decent enough fanbase.
However, it should be noted that it takes time and money to improve the title to fit in with the PS4 Pro's specifications. Psyonix would have to evaluate on whether or not they could get a return on the dollars spent to improve the game.
With newer titles coming out, this is unlikely, unless the developers have something planned in the pipeline.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt developer, CD Projekt Red, recently announced that it has no plans to make improvements to the game for the Sony PS4 Pro. The developer has done a lot of work on the game already. Several DLCs were released along with a Game of The Year Edition.
Much work has been done, and the developer just wants to focus on other games such as Gwent and Cyberpunk 2077. Based on what CD Projekt Red has to say, we can almost feel the need to confirm that most developers will not update their previously released titles for PS4 Pro unless they are certain these games will make them some extra cash.
The good news is, developers won't have to pay Sony to release PS4 Pro compatibility patches for their games.
With that said, we can expect Sony to update its exclusive games to work best on the PS4 Pro. Uncharted 4 is getting an upgrade, and The Last of Us is also set to get a 4K upgrade as well.
