'Rocket League' 1.22 Update Released: Rumble Mode, Party Chat, Car Presets, P2P Trading, And More

Psyonix has released update 1.22 for popular vehicular soccer video game Rocket League, adding the much-hyped Rumble mode and several new features.

The new 3v3 Rumble mode, which was announced by the Rocket League developer last month, is a free addition to the game that incorporates 11 power-ups that players can utilize to their advantage. Among the power-ups that players can pick up in Rumble mode are the Boot, which kicks an opponent's car; the Grappling Hook, which pulls the player toward the ball; the Magnetizer, which attracts the ball to the player's car; and the Tornado, which sweeps the ball and opponents into a giant tornado.

Rumble mode is now live with the release of update 1.22, so players can start getting crazy with the power-ups.

In addition to the new mode, the update released two new features that are said to be among the most popular requests by the Rocket League community. The first such feature is Party Chat, which will allow players to send messages to all the members of a party. Party Chat can be accessed while in the game or while going through the game's menus, with the messages delivered to party members whether they are in a game or not.

The second feature, which is even more requested compared with party chat, is the Car Preset option, which will offer players up to 10 slots for saving car loadout configurations. The Car Preset option will also allow gamers to save their vehicle customizations on a per team basis, with options to equip to blue and equip to orange. Psyonix has also expanded the primary color palette and has even added a randomize preset button so that players can try out new looks.

To accumulate funding for Rocket League's continued growth in the competitive gaming scene, Psyonix will also be adding a new Crates and Keys system with update 1.22. Players will randomly receive Crates in addition to the normal rewards after competitive matches, with the Crates containing random but exclusive Garage items that will be unique to the Crate, including new "import" battle-cars, exotic wheels and unique animated decals. Players will be able to see the contents of Crates before they open them.

To open Crates, players will have to purchase Keys, which are priced at $1.49 each or $5 for five keys, $10 for 10 keys and $20 for 20 keys. For players who do not wish to see Crates, they can choose to turn off the feature.

Lastly, update 1.22 adds Player-to-Player, or P2P, trading. There are some restrictions, such as the inability to trade premium DLC items, but most trades can be done between two players depending on what they agree upon.

Excited to try out Rumble mode and the new features? Update 1.22 is now available for Rocket League on all platforms, so install it now and launch the game.
