In the wake of Sony announcing its upcoming PlayStation 4 Pro and its 4K support, Bioware unleashed a new eye candy pertaining to its anticipated sci-fi game, Mass Effect: Andromeda.
Bioware's General Manager Aaryn Flynn notes at the debut of the video that the game is crafted with 4K resolutions in mind, and that is the way it is best enjoyed. Even the trailer that was recently presented was shot in 4K.
It should be mentioned that Mass Effect: Andromeda will have its frame rate capped at 30 fps on the existing PlayStation 4 and on the upgraded model, PlayStation 4 Pro. Despite the fact that the PS4 Pro is significantly more powerful than the current variant of the console, the oomph will not be put to use in the case of Mass Effect's latest installment.
The detail comes from game producer Fabrice Condominas and was shared with the rest of the world by GameSpot.
It should be mentioned that the trailer video presented recently was a pre-alpha build, so there is a high chance that the beta variant and the final live version will see optimizations leading to enhanced performance.
Mass Effect: Andromeda will not be the only title that will run at an identical frame rate on PS4 and PS4 Pro. Other games, such as Infamous: Second Son and First Light will do the same.
Keep in mind that better frame rates are especially significant in multiplayer titles, as they can really make or break the gameplay. We are curious to see if the PS4 Pro edition of games that rely heavily on the multiplayer experience, such as Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Battlefield 1 will make use of superior frame rates.
Sony will release the PS4 Pro in November at a price point of $400, meanwhile it has in store the roll out of the PS4 Slim, which comes at a cost of $300.
You should know that Mass Effect: Andromeda will land on all major gaming ecosystems apart from PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro. 2017 is expected to bring out the Xbox One and PC variants of the new installment in the series, and according to the recent trailer, gamers will have a lot to look forward to.
Those who were concerned that their ending of choice for Mass Effect 3 will affect the events in Andromeda in any way can relax. It is irrelevant if Commander Shepard blew up the Reapers in Mass Effect 3 or if the main character chose the middle ground and merged organics and synthetics into a Battlestar Galactica type of cylon-human breeding program.
In June, BioWare did confirm that the events in Mass Effect: Andromeda will be completely disconnected from the adventure gamers embarked on during the first three games in the series. This implies that no decision that players took while playing Mass Effect 1, 2 or 3 will have any consequences in Andromeda.
