Nintendo isn't relenting when it comes to new information about Pokémon Sun and Moon. It feels like each and every week sees yet another major reveal for the game, and this week Nintendo is putting the spotlight on a new feature in the upcoming games that may look familiar to longtime Pokémon fans.
A new feature called the Poké Finder is making its debut in Pokémon Sun and Moon, and it looks a lot like Pokémon Snap. For those not in the know, Pokémon Snap was a unique title for the N64 that revolved around players going on a virtual Pokémon safari, taking pictures along the way.
The Poké Finder serves a similar purpose. The item allows players to take pictures of Pokémon in certain areas of the game and then have those photos rated. Higher picture ratings unlock more perks for the Poké Finder, such as the ability to zoom in.
But the Poké Finder was far from the only major announcement from Nintendo this week regarding the upcoming games. Also revealed are new, mysterious creatures referred to as Ultra Beasts. These creatures aren't even classified as Pokémon, instead they are only given an identification number. The latest trailer for the game shows off UB-001, a jellyfish-like creature.
Going hand in hand with Ultra Beasts is the Aether Foundation, a new group players will interact with. The foundation is dedicated to protecting Pokémon, and it looks like they will be conducting research on the Ultra Beasts as well as fighting against the evil Team Skull.
In addition to Ultra Beasts, Nintendo also shined some light on more of the differences between Sun and Moon. In addition to having a few different Pokémon, the games will also take place 12 hours apart, with certain events playing out differently.
"Except for a few scenes, time in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon is tied to the actual time. Pokémon Sun operates on the same time as your Nintendo 3DS system, but time in the world of Pokémon Moon is shifted by 12 hours," explains Nintendo.
Last but certainly not least, two new Pokémon also made their debut in the game's latest trailer. Type: Null is a Frankenstein-like monster that is refered to as a "synthetic" Pokémon. Also revealed is the dragon type Jangmo-o, a proud Pokémon that is said to never turn its back on an enemy.
Nintendo continues to prove that there's still plenty to talk about when it comes to Pokémon Sun and Moon, so expect even more information soon. The games arrive on the Nintendo 3DS on Nov. 18.
