Fossil is adding four new hybrid smartwatches to the Q roster called the Q Crewmaster, Q Gazer, Q Nate and Q Tailor.
At first glance, these timepieces no doubt feature classic designs that everyone knows from the brand, but that doesn't necessarily mean they aren't packing in enough technology to appeal to the modern buyer.
"Our new hybrid smartwatches are the ultimate convergence of fashion and technology, bringing together the elegance and simplicity of an analog watch with the most popular alerts and tracking features offered by today's smartwatches," Jill Elliott, chief creative officer at Fossil, says.
Each of the new wearable tech sports an analog watch face, but underneath it lies sensors that can track activity and monitor sleep. It's also always on, but in terms of battery life, it shouldn't prove to be much of a problem because the replaceable button cell is rated to last up to six months on typical usage.
Since they aren't "dumb" watches, they can stay connected to smartphones via Bluetooth, allowing them to vibrate or light up when there are incoming notifications on the handset or when the user achieves a fitness goal.
The features don't end there either, as they have Q Link capabilities. That means the physical buttons can be used to ring the connected mobile when it's hard to find, make it take a photo or control music.
Compatibility-wise, they all support Android 4.4 KitKat or later or iPhone 5 with iOS 8.2 or later. Regarding other activity-tracking apps, they will work with Google Fit, Jawbone UP, Under Armour UA Record and Apple Health.
A quick word on design, the Q Gazer is geared toward women, as it's fitted with crystals and a pink color scheme. Meanwhile, the Q Crewmaster is targeted at users who love the outdoors, as it has a rugged design with plenty of color options to boot.
On the other hand, the Q Nate and Q Tailor more or less retain the same appearances as the original Nate and Tailor watches, and smart capabilities were just added in to get them into the Q line.
Now, the new hybrid smartwatches are expected to go official on Sept. 26, and preorders are scheduled to start on Sept. 14. As for the price, the lineup is going to start at $175.
On an interesting note, this announcement follows the Q Wander and Q Marshal smartwatches that made the headlines a little over a month ago, showing how dedicated Fossil is in providing a wide selection to customers everywhere.
