Netflix Confirms The Return Of ‘Stranger Things’: What We Know About Season 2

The news Stranger Things fans have been expecting to hear has officially been confirmed: the series will be back.

Netflix announced on Wednesday that there is absolutely going to a be a second season of the insanely-popular sci-fi thriller.

The streaming service confirmed Stranger Things season 2 via a teaser, revealing that the show will make its return sometime in 2017.

Although the teaser doesn't give away any plot details or first looks at what fans can expect next time around, it does feature the entire second season's episode titles.

What we do know is that Stranger Things season 2 will feature nine episodes (one more episode than season 1) that include: "Madmax," "The Boy Who Came Back to Life," "The Pumpkin Patch," "The Palace," "The Storm," "The Pollywog," "The Secret Cabin," "The Brain" and "The Lost Brother."

These titles leave us wondering what strange occurrences will happen next, although we can probably expect to see how Will is coping now that he has returned from the Upside Down.

It's also known that show creators the Duffer Brothers will continue on as writers for season 2. Season 2 will continue on in Hawkins, Ind. in 1985, although it will also feature a location outside of the small town.

Still, fans can expect to see the return of Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Dustin (Gates Matarazzo) and the gang, along with Joyce (Winona Ryder) in the new season, as confirmed by Ross Duffer in a recent interview.

What fans are really wondering is if Eleven (Mille Brown) will make a comeback. Of course, the Duffer Brothers did not reveal her fate. However, they did say that there will be a total of four new characters in season 2.

Also, we don't need to have the skill set of Sheriff Hopper (David Harbour) to put the pieces together that one of new characters could play a major role when looking at the episode titled "The Lost Brother."

Fans also have the lingering questions after season 1 of whether or not Demogorgon was the only monster. We can assume that season 2 will feature another baddie, but just how many new monsters are lurking in the Upside Down is unknown.

The Duffer Brother have previously stated that they do want to explore more about the Upside Down, and with so little of this world featured in season 1, the directions in which they can take this are endless.

The premiere of Stranger Things season 2 is slated for 2017.
