‘Stranger Things’ Is Insanely Popular On Netflix, A Bigger Hit Than ‘Daredevil’ And ‘House Of Cards’

If you have Netflix and have not yet started streaming its new original series Stranger Things, you are certainly missing out. From the looks of it, subscribers who haven't seen it yet are part of the minority.

Stranger Things has been buzzed about all over the internet, on social media and on websites, as it is praised for its tribute to all things '80s, its creative and intriguing storyline and amazing cast of characters, including a performance that reminded us all of how much we missed Winona Ryder.

Still, even though it's been talked about as the next must-see series, it's hard to know just how many people have tuned in thus far, since Netflix doesn't reveal its ratings.

However, the media data collection startup Symphony Advanced Media (SymphonyAM) has been a trusted source for tracking ratings from Netflix and has now confirmed the exact extent of the insane popularity of Stranger Things.

The sci-fi series is actually a bigger hit than popular Netflix series like Daredevil, House of Cards, Jessica Jones and Narcos when it comes to data based on the first days those series debuted.

SymphonyAM found that, in just 16 days of Stranger Things' premiere, 8.2 million people watched the series.

In comparison, 6.8 million people streamed season 2 of Marvel's Daredevil when it went live and up to 16 days later, whereas 5.1 million streamed Making a Murderer, and just 4.8 million streamed season 1 of Marvel's Jessica Jones in that 16-day-period.

Even though Netflix has called SymphonyAM 's data inaccurate in the past, this is an impressive viewership for the platform's latest stand-out series.

According to the data, Stranger Things falls just behind Fuller House and then season 4 of Orange is the New Black for becoming the most popular series after 16 days of its premiere.

After previously finding that Stranger Things was the most popular digital original series in the U.S. at the end of July, data company Parrot Analytics has also found that it is closing the gap on the most in-demand series in the U.S., Game of Thrones.

Hanging onto the number one spot as the most popular digital original series for the third week for July 31 to Aug. 6, Stranger Things is only 4.5 million Demand Expressions (Parrot Analytics' measurement for the total audience demand across all platforms) than Game of Thrones.

With all its success, subscribers can expect to see Stranger Things return for a second season, especially since there is so much that showrunners the Duffer Brothers can still explore when it comes to the Upside Down, the changes to Will and what happened to Eleven.

Those who can't wait for season 2 can purchase volume 1 of Stranger Things' digital soundtrack featuring the original score by S U R V I V E members Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein when it becomes available on Friday, Aug. 12.
