3D Touch is not a popular feature when it comes down to Android devices. Furthermore, it might never be, seeing as there aren't many apps out there that support it. However, that's not stopping Blu from releasing a new handset with 3D Touch as one of the defining features.
This device is called the Pure XR, and guess what, it only costs a mere $299 to own. This is a version related to the Pure XL that was released back in 2015. The big difference here, as stated, is the 3D Touch feature, something similar to what Apple has done with the newest version of the iPhone.
When it comes down to the Blu Pure XR, this device is rocking an awesome looking 5.5-inch curved display. It's Super AMOLED as well, so one should expect great looking colors. Under the hood, this device is rocking Android 6.0 Marshmallow and a 2 GHz processor. We understand this is of the octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 variety.
In terms of RAM, the Pure XR has 4 GB of it and 64 GB of internal memory. If you're not pleased with the 64 GB memory, worry not because this beauty has a microSD card slot for expanded memory.
The folks at Blu are not being too economical on the features either. Yes, the Pure XR costs $299, so as expected, it will not match up to the Pure XL. However, it's not too far off. The Pure XL comes with a 24-megapixel camera, while the Pure XR stands to hit store shelves with a 16-megapixel camera instead.
As for the selfie camera, the Pure XR comes with an 8-megapixel shooter, which is much better than what some phones have for their main camera. There's also a home button here with a fingerprint scanner, all similar to the iPhone.
Interested in dual SIM slots, USB Type-C port and a 3,000 mAh battery? Worry not, the Blu Pure XR comes with all of them. Furthermore, the device comes packed with a 2-amp quick charger. Blu says it can give users about an hour of talk time after a mere 10 minutes of charge.
We like the design as well, mainly for the simple fact that it's a full-metal unibody design. It's clear that Blu has put a lot of work into the handset, and it shows.
Bear in mind that this is a GSM-only smartphone, so it won't work on Verizon nor Sprint, but should work just fine on AT&T and T-Mobile.
