Deus Ex: Mankind Divided's PC port's release was greeted with a barrage of complaints regarding various in-game problems. In response to its community's clamor, Eidos Montreal rolled out the game's first patch to address the critical issues that players experienced following the launch earlier this week.
Eidos Montreal specifies that it is releasing patch build 524.7 to primarily deal with crashes and not performance issues. According to its patch notes, the new patch contains fixes for several instances that cause Deus Ex: Mankind Divided to crash.
Crashes brought about by third-party programs' interference with the game have been addressed. Build 524.7 also fixes crashes that occur after users view the intro videos along with an issue that can cause crash at the Prague intro scene. Adjustments for the invert mouse settings that do not display correctly within the options menu are also contained in the new patch.
While a definitive fix for the game's performance issues is yet to be released, Eidos Montreal advises players to try some workarounds, which may solve some issues. The company's suggestions include updating to the latest drivers, turning off MSAA and contact hardening shadows, as well as keeping volumetric lighting to either on or off.
For players using a 4 GB graphics card, the developer reckons that using settings up to "High" on a 1,080p resolution is optimal. Setting the game to use exclusive fullscreen is also endorsed for this hardware setup.
"We are seeing people reporting performance issues when playing the game on Very High/Ultra settings with MSAA set to 2x, 4x, or 8x. We would like to emphasize again that these options are very demanding," writes game developer Poticha.
Note that Deus Ex: Mankind Divided's recommended system requirements involve 16 GB of RAM, a Core i7-3770K 4-Core 3.5GHz or an FX-8350 processor and either the GTX 970 4 GB or the Radeon RX 480 4 GB for the GPU. The company also encourages players who have hardware that meet or exceed the game's recommended specifications to start with the High Preset and turn off MSAA before tweaking the settings.
According to Poticha's other Steam post, one which compiles known game issues, the mouse acceleration problem is still under investigation. It also details an exploit where the final reward for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - Breach gets awarded indefinitely to a player that continues to clear maps after completing the game. As a temporary solution, the company decided to replace the reward with a promise that it will be "put back in place" once the issue gets fixed.
