Many have commended Halo 5: Guardians' firm post-launch support, which is evident in the steady release of downloadable content packs since the game's debut in 2015. It doesn't seem that developer 343 Industries plans to stop.
343 Industries' Bravo has posted a preview of Autumn on Halo Waypoint and revealed some teaser artwork and a sneak peek of what to expect in the upcoming DLC of the Xbox-exclusive first-person shooter game. New content browser, new maps and new REQs are on the way, boys!
The developer disclosed that the teams (UGC, UI, Forge) assigned to the new content browser are now working on the finishing touches. Community creations, which include game modes, forge object groups and a variety of maps, will be indexed under the content browser. Note that 343 industries officially classified these indexed items as Prefabs and will refer to them as such in the future.
Also teased to come with the next update are "new places to play." One of these new places is an arena battleground, which was illustrated in a concept art that is embedded within the post.
"These places are nearly ready to be revealed," writes Bravo while noting that every nook and cranny, weapon pads, power position and other related aspects of the maps were carefully examined.
Aside from the new maps and content browser, the developer also gave a sneak peek into the new REQs that will also be implemented through the coming update. The upcoming REQs will be comprised of skins, weapons, attachments and more.
Bravo has highlighted the new ultra rare Gunfighter Magnum. A new gold weapon skin was also showcased, as shown in the Landgrave BR and Landgrave Magnum images. Bravo hints that a few more skins will come with the update.
"The [REDACTED] is by far my favorite weapon in this next update. The Ultra Rare variant is crazy good at taking down Wasps, Banshees and Phaetons. It feels so badass hauling around a [REDACTED] on the battlefield," Jon Hathaway, a member of 343 Industries' investment team, expressed his excitement over his favorite REQ in the upcoming DLC.
Note that the [REDACTED] word is most likely the name of the new REQ that Bravo intentionally omitted.
More updates regarding the anticipated Halo 5: Guardians DLC were promised to come later this week. Starting from the Battle of Shadow and Light DLC pack, which was released in November 2015, Halo 5: Guardians has had a total of seven free content updates, including Warzone Firefight, which was released a couple of months ago.
