'Game Of Thrones' Season 7 Casting Call Might Point Toward Important Book Character

Game of Thrones season seven will be arriving later than usual next year, and will be shorter than usual to boot. However, that just gives fans more time to speculate on what's to come next season, and there's plenty to speculate about thanks to casting calls for the show's next season.

Fansite Watchers on the Walls has revealed casting calls both large and small. There are calls for nude courtesans, priests, guards and more — typical Game of Thrones fare. One casting call in particular, however, stands out from the pack.

The casting call is for a warrior, described as being between 35 to 45 years old. Here's a few more details about the role, via Winter is Coming.

"The character is a tough-looking bruiser with the attack skills of a pit bull, and the actor needs to be great at fighting. He has a ‘considerable' amount of dialogue as well. It's described as an ‘excellent part for a top-end actor.' They're looking for a white actor with a 'neutral and non-posh English accent.'"

While many of the roles described sound like one-off appearances, this warrior casting call seems to be more important. Having a considerable amount of dialogue and being described as an "excellent part for a top-end actor" make it sound like this particular character might appear in more than one episode of season seven, even if he's not a part of the show's main cast.

Normally, book-reading fans would be able to easily identify who such a character might be, but that's much more difficult now that Game of Thrones has far surpassed George R.R. Martin's novels. That being said, there is one major book character that has yet to be introduced on the show who matches the description of the warrior above.

Possible Spoilers Below!

That character is Jon Connington, who, in the books, is the secret caretaker of a young, thought-to-be-dead Aegon Targaryen. Connington helped raise Aegon from a young age, with the hope that, one day, the boy would be able to rule Westeros as his family once did. While Dany is still MIA in the novels, Connington and Aegon make plans to invade Westeros.

The introduction of Connington and Aegon is one major way the book and show has diverged. It seems unlikely Aegon will be introduced on the show, but it's possible Connington could still make an appearance. It's clear in the casting of a white actor with a "neutral and non-posh English accent," that the role is for a character from Westeros, and the age and warrior description certainly fit Connington's character. However, if Aegon doesn't appear on the show, what is Connington to do?

It's possible he could meet up with Daenerys Targaryen, who is seen sailing to Westeros with her army at the end of season six. Rather than introduce yet another Targaryen to the mix, the show may streamline things a bit by having Connington join Dany and serve as an adviser to her. After all, he is a Targaryen loyalist and keen military mind. That should prove helpful to Dany in her war for the throne.

Of course, this is all speculation at this point. Unfortunately, it will be a while before more details about season seven are likely to emerge, but until then, fans can dream of the possibilities.
