Dragon Ball (and Dragon Ball Super) is no stranger to introducing new more powerful forms for the show's cast of heroes.
Over the years, there's been Super Saiyan, Super Saiyan 2, Super Saiyan 3, Fusion and much, much more. Most recently, Goku and Vegeta learned how to achieve the power of Super Saiyan Blue, and Goku has even figured out how to combine his Super Saiyan Blue powers with that of his kaio-ken technique for his most powerful form yet.
What new transformation does Dragon Ball Super have in store for fans next? According to a Japanese TV listing, it may be called Super Saiyan Rose.
Spoilers (and possible spoilers) for Dragon Ball Super below!
The episode listing (via Kotaku) for episode 56 of Dragon Ball Super reads, "Black Goku Rematch! Super Saiyan Rose Appears!" Black Goku is the current villain of the series, a mysterious character from the future who looks like Goku, but is clearly something else entirely. The two have battled once already in the series, and it sounds like fans can expect to see them square off once more in episode 56.
So far, it's not 100 percent clear which character, whether it be Black Goku, Goku or both, will be undergoing the new transformation. The new form of Super Saiyan presumably turns the user's hair pink (hence the name Super Saiyan Rose). What appears to be leaked artwork for the series also seems to confirm that presumption by showing what appears to be Goku Black sporting a new light-ish red hairdo.
It's still a mystery how much stronger the Super Saiyan Rose form is to that of Super Saiyan Blue, or what other new abilities the transformation may include. Either way, the new form of Super Saiyan is just the latest in a long tradition of increasingly powerful (and kind of silly) new forms for the show's heroes and villains. Episode 56 of Dragon Ball Super airs later this month in Japan.
