Though console players are ready to move on to the upcoming sequel, the original Injustice mobile game is still going strong, largely thanks to regular updates to the title adding new characters and costumes for players to check out.
Case in point: the game's new Suicide Squad update, the largest to the game in over a year. Used as a means of promoting the new DC Universe film Suicide Squad, Will Smith's Deadshot has made his way into the game as a brand new mobile-exclusive character.
Meanwhile, new Suicide Squad-themed costumes for Harley Quinn and the Joker have also been added in the update. Now, players can fight as Jared Leto's tattooed and blinged-out Joker, or Margot Robbie's T-shirt- and short-shorts-sporting Harley Quinn.
NetherRealm and WBIE have also updated the game's challenge, multiplayer and survivor modes with new Suicide Squad-themed rewards and companion cards for players to earn.
The arrival of Deadshot is just the latest mobile-exclusive character added to Injustice. Characters like Static and the Arkham Knight didn't appear in the console versions of Injustice, but can be found in the mobile version.

Meanwhile, DC Comics and fighting game fans are eagerly awaiting the arrival of Injustice 2, which is set to release for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 next year. The game will feature a number of brand new DC Comic heroes and villains to fight as, including Blue Beetle, Supergirl, Gorilla Grodd and the Red Lantern Atrocitus, as well as a number of returning characters, like Batman and Wonder Woman. You can check out our Injustice 2 character wishlist (some of which has already come true) here.
It's unclear if an Injustice 2 mobile game will see the light of day, though a recent poll from NetherRealm Studios head Ed Boon seems to indicate that may soon be the case. Boon asked fans on Twitter whether they would rather have the Injustice 2 mobile app be a new separate game or simply add new Injustice 2 content to the existing Injustice mobile game. The majority of fans requested that, if an Injustice 2 mobile game were to be made, it should be a brand new standalone app. An official announcement on a new Injustice mobile game has yet to be made.
Suicide Squad is in theaters Aug. 5.
