HTC Desire Eye might boast of 13MP front camera

HTC is gearing up to launch its new iteration of upper mid-range Android device purportedly dubbed as HTC Desire Eye. The leaks show that the Desire eye will feature large megapixel lenses on both its front and back cameras. Moreover, the front-facer is said to have an f2.0 wide angle.

With this information, it is obvious that HTC is serious when it comes to reshaping its smartphone camera concept. Recently, the company is rumored to release an upgraded One M8 with enhanced camera features. New leaks from the twitter account @upleaks say that HTC is about to release two 13-megapixel cameras.

Even though the new device will have a duo of 13MP cameras, it is highly likely that the phone will join the Desire lineup, HTC's budget-friendly iteration.

The rumored Desire Eye is said to feature 1080p display of 5.2 inches. It will run on the speedy quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, a RAM of 2GB, and will have a built-in storage of 32GB.

Probing closer at the handset's front side near the lens part, consumers could see that the device show the words "13MP Wide Angle." In the past, people have already seen a 13MP front-facing camera on the Oppo N1. However, the camera is actually a swiveling type.

HTC is hosting an event on Wednesday aptly dubbed as "Double Exposure." It has been rumored that the company will announce an action camera in the event. Prior to this, the company's unveiling of a new selfie phone has been going around the web for quite some time now.

The HTC Desire Eye may be available in two color options such as blue and red. Since it is touted to be an ultimate selfie device, it may also aim on becoming an ultimate amphibian phone as it is speculated to be equipped with an IPX7 certification. This will enable the device to tolerate submersion in up to 3.2 feet of depth in the water for at least half an hour. It also means that selfie-focused fans can capture high quality images both on land and under water. Of course, snapshots from scuba-diving are out of the question for obvious reasons.

HTC's camera-focused event which is happening soon in New York may reveal some of the company's new set of devices and it would be nice to know if there will be those that will cater to photo-loving consumers. The company is said to be prepping up to show off its ReCamera shooter which could compete with the famous GoPro.
