iPhone 7 And iPhone 7 Plus Lightning EarPods With Remote Working On Leaked Video

Apple is expected to remove the 3.5-mm headphone port from its upcoming iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. A new video appears to show the company's Lightning EarPods with remote in action for the first time.

A few weeks after Apple released the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, the first major iPhone 7 leak hit the web in November and claimed that Apple was planning to remove the standard 3.5-mm headphone port. The source revealed that Apple was supposedly going to ship updated EarPod headphones with Lightning connector in the box of each iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

Soon a report surfaced in December that claimed Apple was going to introduce wireless AirPods alongside the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, as well as the first report that the smartphones would feature a new 3D Touch Home button. It appears the new Home button will make its way to the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, according to a recent report.

In late June, we reported that images of what were reportedly Apple's new Lightning-equipped EarPods leaked. Now, a new video has surfaced which claim to show Apple's official EarPods with Lightning connector in action.

As you can see in the video below, the headphones look virtually identical to Apple's current EarPods that ship with iPhones but have the company's proprietary Lightning connector where the 3.5-mm connector is normally placed. The user plugs the EarPods into an iPhone and plays free non-copyrighted music on YouTube. He then proceeds to move on to demonstrate the EarPods' remote control; pressing pause/play and volume up and volume down, while showing the iPhone's screen corresponding to each press.

While there's no way to confirm that what we are seeing are indeed Apple's new Lightning-equipped EarPods that will ship with the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, this is the first video to show their remote clearly working, lending credence these may be the real deal.

Apple is expected to hold its iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus launch event on Sept. 6 and open up preorders for its next-generation smartphones on Sept. 9, according to a reliable source.

The same tipster also revealed that Apple will reportedly release the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus on Sept 16.

While the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are expected to be an evolution of the iPhone 6s series and keep the same overall design, they will of course feature faster A10 processors and improved rear cameras, with the iPhone 7 Plus believed to pack in a dual-lens rear camera. Some reports also claim the pair will be the first iPhones to use a waterproof case, which will be music to the ears of anyone who has accidentally dropped their smartphone in water.

We'll be covering Apple's iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus event and will report back all of the latest details. Check out the video below to see the new EarPods.
