Virtual reality is a space where users can fulfill their wildest dreams. Whether it's becoming the hero of a fantasy epic, stepping behind the wheel of a race car or exploring outer space, VR is built to immerse players in new worlds by having them feel as if they are truly there.
Likewise, VR can also be used for completely goofy stuff like TrumPiñata. The 99 cent game for the HTC Vive is now available on Steam, and it's almost exactly what its title implies. In TrumPiñata, players can bash a piñata that looks and sounds like Donald Trump into tiny, tiny pieces. Here are some of the game's key features:
- Hit him in his smug face
- His limbs come off
- There's a baseball bat
That's it actually. Apparently, audio is a key aspect of the game as well, no doubt so players can hear some of Trump's most infamous sound bites, including such classics as, "I'm going to build a great, great wall" and "Make America great again."
Seriously, that's the whole game. There's a reason it's 99 cents. It doesn't even look like candy comes out when you hit him. What's the point of having a piñata if there's no candy to collect afterward?
Alas, TrumPiñata is just the latest in a long line of political games that have players literally bashing political leaders, but that doesn't mean these games cause players to become violent. In fact, most players would claim the opposite is true. Playing games, oftentimes violent ones, can be a powerful means of stress relief.
That's exactly what TrumPiñata is for. This is a game for those who absolutely cannot stand Donald Trump or anything for which he stands. While everybody can make their votes count come November, in the meantime, those opposed to Trump can't do much to stop his rise to power. They can, however, beat the living crap out of a virtual, tiny-handed Donald Trump piñata to let out some of that built-up frustration and make themselves feel better. Isn't America and technology great? So, enjoy TrumPiñata while you can, because if Donald Trump does become president, developer KittyPup Productions probably won't stay out of litigation for long.
