BLU Products unveils world's thinnest smartphone at pocket-friendly price

BLU Products have unveiled the BLU Life Pro, which is currently the world's thinnest smartphone, which is available at a pocket-friendly price.

BLU Products was founded in 2009 and is based in Miami, Florida. The company has already sold over 10 million handsets and its products are available in Latin America, Caribbean countries and the U.S. Even though BLU Products is a relatively new smartphone maker, it is striving hard to dive in the deep waters of the smartphone space with the launch of its latest BLU Life Pro handset.

"The BLU LIFE PRO is an accomplishment of engineering as much as one of design," said Samuel Ohev-Zion, CEO of BLU Products. "Every detail and material - particularly the sleek aluminum enclosure - has been meticulously considered and refined. It's made with a level of precision you'd expect from a finely crafted watch, not a smartphone."

The Life Pro is not packed with top-end features, but it hopes to attract customers with its stylish design and its thinness.

The handset includes a Quad-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz. It has a 5-inch display with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution and pixel density of 293 pixels per inch (ppi). It comes with a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

Customers will also get 16GB of on-board storage and 1GB of RAM in the Life Pro. The handset is pre-loaded with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system and the company notes that the handset will also get future software updates.

The handset weighs 5.82 ounces (165 grams) and measures 5.78 x 2.83 x 0.27 inch (147 x 72.1 x 6.98 mm), which makes it the thinnest smartphone in the world.

BLU Products has compared the Life Pro with the Samsung Galaxy S4, highlighting that the Life Pro beats the Galaxy S4 in weight and its front-facing camera is better than Samsung's flagship handset. However, the Life Pro includes a 2,500mAh battery, which is slightly less than the 2,600mAh battery, which powers the Galaxy S4.

The company said that the handset will be available only in black and will have a price tag of $299.

The BLU Life Pro has already started to ship to distributors and dealers in the U.S., Brazil, and Mexico. Customers can also buy the handset unlocked via several online retail partners, such as Amazon.com.
