The Sony Xperia XA and Xperia X Performance are finally available in the United States via major retailers such as Amazon, Best Buy and B&H Photo Video, to name a few.
To spread the word, the smartphone maker took things to Twitter, announcing the big news along with a GIF to hype up the launch.
These are part of the Xperia X series that consists of four smartphones in total, and they are the first two to roll out in the country.
Xperia XA
To start things off, the Xperia XA is the low-end variant, and needless to say, it's the most affordable out of the bunch with a $279.99 price tag. Of course, the hardware components it has under the hood won't be as impressive as the others, but at any rate, the handset is pretty respectable.
Going over the core specs it has in store, it features a 5-inch display with a 720 x 1,280 resolution, a Mediatek Helio P10 chip, 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage that's expandable up to 256 GB with a microSD card, and to keep the lights on, it's loaded with a 2,300 mAh battery.
For the mobile photography fans, it sports a 13 MP shooter with LED flash at the rear and an 8 MP camera at the front. Out of the box, it runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.
It's available in Graphite Black, White, Rose Gold and Lime Gold.
Xperia X Performance
On the other end of the spectrum, the Xperia X Performance is the top-of-the-line sibling in the family, touting a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 3 GB worth of RAM and 32 GB of native storage. As expected, it'll hold customers back by $699.99.
Aside from raw power, it also dwarfs the other smartphones in the lineup because of its IP68 waterproof rating.
Just like the Xperia XA, it runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow by default, and its screen measures at 5 inches too. However, it comes out on top with its 1,080 x 1,920 resolution.
To make sure that it can last through the day, Sony crammed in a 2,700 mAh battery pack in it, and to ensure great shots, it fitted the smartphone with a 23 MP rear-facing camera and a 13 MP front snapper.
It's also available in Graphite Black, White, Rose Gold and Lime Gold.
Bottom Line
It looks like Sony launched the two extremes here — the entry-level model and the flagship. As mentioned earlier, the two are available at Amazon, and the retailer is offering the Xperia X Performance bundled together with a 128 GB Sony microSD card and the Xperia XA with a 64 GB one.
In other Xperia-related news, the four handsets went up for preorder back in June, and only the $369.99 Xperia XA Ultra remains to be launched.
