Pokémon GO, the game that stirred a whole frenzy worldwide, is continuing its European rollout to hit three more markets: Spain, Italy and Portugal.
This adds to the European countries where the game was already available, following the rollout in the UK and Germany earlier this week.
Pokémon GO is definitely the game of the moment, getting people off their couches and into the streets, hunting for the quirky Pokémon, Poké Balls, Poké Stops and Gyms.
The game saw huge demand and continues to soar in popularity. Although it's only available in a handful of markets for now, at least officially, it already sent Nintendo shares through the roof, skyrocketing nearly 10 percent to a six-year high. Just one week since its launch in the United States, Australia and New Zealand, Pokémon GO already surpassed Twitter in number of daily active users, and that's no small achievement.
At this rate, Pokémon GO is not just a game, it's already a social phenomenon, and it's spreading like wildfire, engulfing more players by the minute. It's fun, addictive and on the rise, so the latest expansion in Spain, Italy and Portugal should be exciting news for those who were waiting to get it through official channels.
The official Pokémon GO application is now available as a free download for iOS and Android in these markets, ready to take you on a fun adventure. On iOS, the app is compatible with iPhones, iPads and iPod Touch running iOS 8.0 or later. On Android, the app works on smartphones with at least 2 GB of RAM and Android 4.4 or later. It's not optimized for Android tablets, and it won't work with handsets packing Intel Atom processors either.
While it's all exciting, remember to be careful while roaming the streets hunting for Pokemon. There have already been several incidents related to distraught Pokémon GO players that caused car accidents, fell off cliffs or faced other hazards because they were too focused on the game.
That said, play safely and remain aware of your real-world surroundings to avoid any dangers. Pokémon GO may be a social phenomenon, but nothing's worth risking your life for.
We're looking forward to seeing the game expand to even more markets worldwide and we'll keep you up to date as soon as we have more details on availability. If you already got the game, drop by our comment section below and tell us what you think of it.
