The first official video from the soundtrack to the upcoming Suicide Squad film has been released.
The clip features the band performing in Belle Reve prison, where the squad members are housed, and gives a sneak peek at characters like Harley Quinn (played by Margot Robbie), Diablo (Jay Fernandez), Boomerang (Jai Courtney) and others. The clip alternates between footage of the band, also depicted as prisoners, and footage from the actual film. In a new sequence that appears to be filmed exclusively for the video, Harley is shown being taken out of her prison cell on a stretcher.
The details surrounding the content and release of the entire Suicide Squad soundtrack have also been revealed. The collection will be released on Aug. 5, only 10 days before the film hits theaters, and in addition to "Heathens," will contain old and new tracks from some of music's biggest stars, including Skrillex and Rick Ross, Panic! at the Disco!, Eminem and more.
We recently reported that Skrillex had uploaded a snippet of the video shoot for the collaboration between himself and rapper Rick Ross that is slated to appear on the Suicide Squad soundtrack, and now, it has been revealed that the name of the song is "Purple Lamborghini."
Atlantic records has also confirmed our reported rumor that Jared Leto's Joker will in fact make an appearance in the video. Despite the completion of the clip, the song isn't slated for release as a single just yet; instead the second track to be officially released following "Heathens" will be "Sucker for Pain," which credits no less than six separate artists as collaborators: Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa, Imagine Dragons, Logic, Ty Dolla $ign and X Ambassadors.
Another inspired track on the album looks to be a cover of Queen's classic "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Panic at the Disco!, which we explained now consists only of lead singer Brendan Urie despite maintaining the name of the original band. An old favorite, Eminem's "Without Me" also appears on the collection, and we can't wait to see what sort of twisted scene that song accompanies when the dark supervillain-themed film is officially released on Aug. 5.
