The CW is all about its superhero series, and it is making sure that these shows are front and center for its fall schedule lineup.
The network announced the premiere dates for its fall 2016 schedule, which include the returns of fan favorite series like The Flash, Arrow, DC's Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl. Interestingly enough, of all these series will air at the 8 p.m. time slot on their respective days.
It was revealed back in May that Supergirl would join the other superheroes for the fall on Monday nights for season 2 after leaving CBS. The Flash will air on Tuesdays, followed by the new romantic comedy No Tomorrow starring Tori Anderson and Josh Sasse, a character who lives every moment like it's his last because of apocalyptic fears.
The rest of the week will include new episodes of Arrow, as well as the new drama Frequency — which is based on the 2000 movie starring Dennis Quaid about the main character speaking to her father through a radio — on Wednesdays, DC's Legends of Tomorrow and Supernatural will make up Thursday nights and The Vampire Diaries and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend will end the week.
Viewers can expect to see the shows air not in September, but rather in October. It looks like The CW wanted to separate itself from the competition to make sure that its most-anticipated series don't get overshadowed by the series premiere on the other networks like NBC's season 2 of Blindspot or Fox's season 3 premiere of Gotham. Smart move on its part for ratings, but with many people watching episodes on-demand, it might only help the network early in the season.
Regardless of the competition, viewers who have been following series like The Flash and Arrow since their beginnings, as well as those who are now getting into these superhero series after binge-watching when they can, will finally know when to be on the lookout for their return.
