When it comes down to it, E3 is all about making a good impression. It's a massive marketing tool that allows for game publishers and developers to show their games off to the press and to the game-buying public in order to drum up hype and interest for when those games eventually see release.
No game made a bigger impressions this year than Nintendo's Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. As revealed by Twitter (via Gamasutra), the newest installment in the Legend of Zelda franchise sits high above the competition as the most tweeted-about game of the show. Coming in second place is EA's Battlefield 1, which has continued to garner huge interest in recent weeks following its reveal. Meanwhile, Battlefield's primary competitor Call of Duty took the eighth place spot.
In third place is FIFA 17, followed by the surprise reveal of Resident Evil 7 in fourth. The results were compiled based on the number of tweets mentioning a game's title.
The results aren't terribly surprising. Fans have long been awaiting new details about the next Legend of Zelda after years of delays, and Nintendo's large and vocal fanbase no doubt helped it rise to the top of the charts. It goes to show that Nintendo does, to some extent, know what it's doing. Even though the publisher didn't hold a traditional press conference and only showed off a handful of new games, it paid off. Nintendo was wise to focus almost all of its resources on showing off Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and the result is that it's the most talked-about game of the show.
Massive lines of those waiting in line on the show floor to play the game also support Twitter's finding. The crowds for Legend of Zelda are massive. Here's footage from Nintendo itself showing the mad rush of people out of the gate eager to get a chance to play.

As for the other games on the list, they make sense. Battlefield 1 continues to show that it can do no wrong, and given soccer's huge global following, it makes sense for FIFA to make the list. Perhaps most interesting is the appearance of Skyrim in the number six spot. Despite only being a remaster of a five-year-old game, fans are still crazy excited for the chance to experience it all over again (this time, with mods on console).
Twitter mentions, of course, are just one way of gauging success. However, at the end of the day, E3 is all about getting people talking, and these 10 games have done exactly that.
