Season premiere of Gotham kicked things off with great ratings: Season on the road to success?

With Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D failing to grab viewers' attention on its season 2 debut, Fox came out springing with joy after Gotham slammed it in the park with a 3.2 rating with adult in the age group ranging from 18 to 49.

This is a big boon for Fox and DC as it shows that a Batman prequel without the Batman can actually work. The big challenge right now is to get a similar or higher rating for the second episode and the ones thereafter, because we all know that Fox is well known for canning quality shows if they don't meet the ratings requirements.

We liked the first episode of Gotham, though we believed Jim Gordon is having too much of a close relationship with young Bruce Wayne, and Selena Kyle, the future Catwoman and an unimportant main character.

Episode 2, unfortunately, will focus a lot on Selena Kyle, as her name is the title of the episode. We're not too happy for this episode, but at least the Penguin will make an appearance as he sets out to redeem himself and slowly transform into the villain we've come to love over the years.

If episode 2 fails to gain traction, Gotham might travel down a path it might never return from, so here's to hoping Selena Kyle turns out to be a compelling character, because everything is riding on her come next Monday.

By the way, we should mention that over 8 million people watched Gotham on night one, which is quite impressive.

Other premiers that came out strong include Scorpion, despite the Big Bang Theory now airing on Mondays temporarily. Scorpion performed slightly better than Gotham and is looking poised to become the next big hit TV show.

On the matter of the lowest rated show on Monday night, Forever, one can blame it on small amount of marketing it got. It suffered a 1.7 rating, and we believe this might turn out to be the one and only season of this show, unless something drastic changes.

From what we've seen on the Internet, however, it would appear some viewers enjoyed what they saw, so this could be the saving grace of the show.
