Cyanogen is releasing Cyanogen OS 13.1 to the OnePlus One smartphone. The update brings a new feature called Mod to the OS.
Although OnePlus One has already received the Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based Cyanogen OS 13, the latest update will still entice many OnePlus One owners as it integrates third-party app features in the OS.
"Cyanogen OS 13.1: The MOD Ready update is a major step forward in the post-app era, with mods taking center stage. Mods are your favorite features, right where you expect them. The MOD platform now extends into Phone, Messaging, Camera, Lock Screen, Email and more. This update includes mods for Skype, Hyperlapse, Twitter, Cortana and OneNote," says Cyanogen.
The Microsoft-based Mods will make using several apps very easy for OnePlus One owners. For instance, with the latest Cyanogen OS 13.1 update, users can make Skype calls start directly from the Cyanogen phone app.
OnePlus One users will be able to easily and quickly switch from cellular voice call to Skype video call with ease. Smartphone owners will also have the option to purchase credits for their Skype account directly from Cyanogen's phone app.
Cortana can be accessed directly from the lock screen after updating the OnePlus One with Cyanogen OS 13.1. With voice commands, users can instruct Cortana to snap a selfie hands-free.
"Avoid the hassle of trying to frame the perfect selfie, perhaps while coordinating with a group of friends in it, while also trying to hit the shutter button. Once snapped, you can quickly review the photo and easily share it right from the film strip," says Cyanogen.
With the Microsoft Hyperlapse Mod for camera, OnePlus One users will be able to create time-lapse videos.
Twitter users will not be able to use the app directly from the lock screen without the conventional widget. Swiping left on the OnePlus One's locked screen will take users directly to the full-featured Twitter interface.
The latest OneNote Mod lets users take notes intuitively and simply anytime and from anywhere in the Cyanogen OS. Users will have the option to take and add notes when in the middle of a phone call. OnePlus One owners have to simply swipe down on the screen of the handset and select the OneNote tile in Quick Settings.
Cyanogen OS 13.1 is currently available for the OnePlus One only. Other smartphones running on Cyanogen OS may receive the update soon.
