Here is something that will make you smile today: a new Steam free weekend event has kick-started, enabling people to play Wasteland 2: Director's Cut this weekend.

The good news is that gamers can play the video game at no cost.

For those who wish to keep playing this game even when the weekend event ends, it should be known that Steam is also offering a 50 percent discount. If you want to grab the digital deluxe edition, in the meantime, you can have it for $30 (the original price is $60). This particular version comes with a digital soundtrack, plus three digital novellas.

With these two editions, it is important to note that players can get a copy of the original Wasteland along with Wasteland 2's Director's Cut and non-Director's Cut versions.

Released Last Year

In October, Wasteland's game developer inXile released this post-apocalyptic game on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC (Windows, Linux and Mac).

Sequel of 1988's Wasteland, the Wasteland 2: Director's Cut, comes packed with a slew of goodies.

Tech Times earlier pushed out a report describing what this updated version of Wasteland 2 has to offer to gamers. The list of what features to expect from this game include:

1. The game offers stunning graphics, thanks to the upgrade to the new Unity 5 game engine. Moreover, it likewise includes enhanced lighting, plus new visual effects.

2. The Director's Cut is also crammed with fire and explosions that should beef up the overall experience.

3. The developer added in more than 8,000 voiced lines for a multitude of scenes and characters.

4. The game has also been rebalanced. This has resulted in a few tweaks in different aspects of the game, such as in merchant inventories, weapon stats and scenes.

5. The developer added quirks and perks into it. Players can also customize their characters. inXile packed in nearly 20 quirks and 90 perks to Director's Cut.

6. Players are treated with a new Precision Strike system.

7. There is a bevy of new weapons that have been added into the video game. Gamers have to take note, however, that they need to work hard in finding them as these weapons are hidden in different places.

It is worth mentioning that, because of the graphical overhaul, Wasteland 2: Director's Cut is way smaller than the original game by roughly 4 GB.

"The Wasteland's hellish landscape is waiting for you to make your mark ... or die trying," reads the description of the RPG. "With over 80 hours of gameplay, you will deck out your Desert Ranger squad with the most devastating weaponry this side of the fallout zone, test the limits of your strategy skills, and bring justice to the wasteland."
