Fans of Frank Miller's 1986 'The Dark Knight Returns' comic will love Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - Harry Lennix

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is currently in development, and several characters from Man of Steel will return to reprise their roles. One character who will definitely return is General Swanwick, who is played by Harry Lennix.

Lately, Lennix has been dropping hints of what fans should expect from the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice film, and at this rate, Warner Bros. might feel compelled to give him call in order to shut him up. We don't hope for this to happen, but it might.

In a recent interview with Moviefone about season 2 of The Blacklist, where Lennix is a central character, he was asked if he could reveal anything of what fans should expect from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. To that, Lennix said fans of the 1986 Frank Miller comic, The Dark Knight Returns, will be very excited for the new film.

"'Batman v Superman' ... [Laughs] Well, no. Anybody who's a fan of the '86 graphic novel 'The Dark Knight Returns,' I think will be well pleased by that. This is a historic event. Clearly, Zack Snyder is on the cutting edge of directing movies of this scope and scale," says Lennix. "I think you can depend on the acting -- you've got Amy Adams, of course. You've got Henry [Cavill]. I don't think there are any surprises with regard to that. What will happen remains to be seen."

What Lennix is implying is nothing new. We've known that Zack Snyder would use certain themes from the Frank Miller comic in the film, as he used a Batman quote when he first announced the film. It was a historic moment, and DC fans from every walk of life were going insane at the time.

We can also tell that Snyder is serious about following aspects of Frank Miller's comic, as the recently held San Diego Comic Con showed Batman and Superman on the big screen together for the first time. What made this interesting was the fact that Batman was well dressed in armor that is similar to the one in The Dark Knight Returns.

We can't wait to see the film, and since some aspects of Frank Miller's story will be used, we have the feeling this movie is going down a dark path, and that's awesome.
