Samsung has commenced pushing out the Android Wear 1.5 update for the Gear Live.
This software update, though, does not bring with it new, noteworthy features to the Samsung device.
Sam Mobile reports that the South Korean-based firm is releasing the upgrade to Gear Live units across Europe, Asia, South America and North America.
This minor software update is aimed at patching a slew of bugs that plagued users upon installing the Android Wear 1.4 OTA that Samsung started rolling out in February.
Tweaks
It appears that the recent update fixed an issue related to notification syncing. The bug resulted in new notifications not being pushed to the device in real time.
Some other changes Samsung Gear Live users have to expect from the Android Wear 1.5 update include the return of the restart option under the settings menu. This particular option was wiped out in the earlier software version. Furthermore, owners can now see the security patch date in the About screen.
When the last Android Wear major update was released, new gestures and speaker support were introduced.
In any case, it is good to know that the firm still throws updates into its 2-year-old smart timepiece. Indeed, the new improvements that the Android Wear 1.5 update has brought in are a welcome treat for Gear Live users.
More Watches Receive Android Wear 1.5 Update
A report from 9to5Google, in the meantime, says that Android Wear 1.5 is also heading to other smartwatches, such as the second-generation Moto 360 and Moto 360 Sport.
Apart from receiving stability and security enhancements, users of these wearable devices are likewise treated with improvements for Moto Body.
Android Wear 2.0
In May, Tech Times reported that Google unveiled the developer preview of the Android Wear 2.0 that comes packed with support for stand-alone devices and apps along with other nifty features.
As the new version of Android Wear enables stand-alone apps to run on the platform, users won't be needing phones for the installation and syncing of apps on Android Wear.
What's more, Android Wear 2.0 also enables users of wearable devices to benefit from AI-powered replies — a feature that has caught the interest of several Gmail Inbox users.
On top of that, this OS lets users scribble text on the wearable's screen. This will then be transformed into proper text.
The Mountain View-based company says that the upcoming Android Wear version will be released this coming fall, something to look forward to for sure.
