Verizon has officially announced the preorder and launch dates for the affordable LG K8 V smartphone.
The Verizon-exclusive LG K8 V is based on the LG K8, which is already available in some regions outside the U.S. The majority of the hardware specs in the LG K8 and the LG K8 V are similar. However, design-wise, the K8 has a more rounded design compared to the K8 V.
"Make the leap with the LG K8 V, available for preorder starting June 9, exclusively from Verizon. The LG K8 V has a sleek modern design, great camera features and global roaming capabilities, making it the perfect complement to Verizon's super-fast 4G LTE network," says Verizon.
The LG offering sports a 5-inch HD screen with a display resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels. A 1.3 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon Quad-Core processor and 1.5 GB of RAM power the handset.
The LG K8 V has 16 GB of internal storage, which may not be enough for customers who save a lot of data such as music, videos and more on their smartphone. However, mobile phone enthusiasts should not be disappointed as the LG K8 V has a microSD card slot for expanding the storage capacity up to 128 GB.
The smartphone is equipped with an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The front camera features Gesture Shot that allows selfies to be taken easily.
"Position yourself for the perfect selfie using the LG K8 V Gesture Shot feature. Just turn on the front-facing 5 MP camera, display your open palm on screen, wait for the box to appear, then make a fist to start the automatic countdown," says Verizon.
A removable 2,125 mAh battery powers the LG K8 V. With one single charge, customers can expect to get up to 22 hours of usage time and up to 16 days of standby time. The LG handset weighs 4.71 ounces or about 133.5 grams. Currently, the device is available only in onyx color option.
Verizon claims that the LG K8 V supports global roaming capabilities, and the mobile phone can be used in over 200 countries across the globe.
The LG phone runs on Google's latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system, which brings a number of new features to Android devices.
Customers can preorder the LG K8 V directly from Verizon's website. The full price of the LG smartphone is $144. The carrier is also offering the handset on a 0 percent finance payment option, where customers have to pay $6 in 24 monthly installments.
