The highly anticipated OnePlus 3 is set to be launched in the middle of June, and fans of OnePlus and its smartphones are looking forward to finally acquiring the device.
The OnePlus 3, however, is not the only high-profile smartphone that will be hitting the market soon, as preorders for Sony's Xperia X have already started.
The OnePlus 3 and Sony Xperia X will have tough competition once they are released, though, with Samsung's Galaxy S7 arguably the premiere Android-powered smartphone currently out in the market. How do the three smartphones stack up against each other?
Display
The OnePlus 3 features a 5.5-inch Full HD OLED screen, which is the largest display among the three smartphones being compared. The Xperia X has the smallest display among the three with a 5-inch Full HD display, while that of the Galaxy S7 is only slightly bigger at 5.1 inches. However, the Galaxy S7's display is a Quad HD super AMOLED screen.
Dimensions And Weight
The OnePlus 3 measures 6.01 inches by 2.94 inches by 0.29 inches while weighing 5.64 ounces. The Xperia X is slightly smaller and lighter with measurements of 5.6 inches by 2.73 inches by 0.31 inches and a weight of 5.4 ounces. The Galaxy S7 has almost the same measurements as the Xperia X at 5.61 inches by 2.74 inches by 0.31 inches, with a weight of 5.36 ounces.
Processor And Memory
Both the OnePlus 3 and the Galaxy S7 are powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820, though some models of Samsung's flagship smartphone are instead packing its own Exynos 8890 chipset. The Xperia X, meanwhile, packs the less powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 650.
For RAM, the OnePlus 3 comes with 4 GB for its basic variant and 6 GB for the more expensive version. The Xperia X and Galaxy S7, on the other hand, top out at 3 GB of RAM and 4 GB of RAM, respectively.
All three devices are capable of expandable storage through a microSD card.
Camera
The OnePlus 3 features a 16 MP rear-facing camera and an 8 MP front-facing camera. In comparison, the Xperia X has better cameras with a 23 MP rear-facing camera and a 13 MP front-facing camera, while the Galaxy S7 lags behind both smartphones with a 12 MP rear-facing camera and a 5 MP front-facing camera.
Battery
Both the OnePlus 3 and the Galaxy S7 feature 3,000 mAh batteries, while that of the Xperia X is slightly smaller at 2,620 mAh.
Verdict
Judging by the specifications alone, the OnePlus 3 seems to be on par, and maybe even slightly better, than even Samsung's Galaxy S7, with Sony's Xperia X trailing behind the two. The Xperia X, however, has the best camera among the three smartphones, so there really is no standout device among them.
All three smartphones, however, are perfectly capable devices in addressing the needs of users. The choice on which one to purchase would depend largely on a customer's attraction to a certain brand, as based on specifications, there is not that much of a difference between the three.
