OnePlus 3 fans can be relieved, as the manufacturer announced the flagship's official launch will take place in only two weeks' time.
According to its Chinese site, OnePlus 3 will roll out in China during a conference that will start on June 15 at 10 a.m., Chinese time. This means the American fans of the OEM can start watching the event on June 14, at 10 p.m. on the East Coast and at 7 p.m. on the West Coast.
The company officially confirmed the information in a Chinese blog post, saying that OnePlus 3 will be the star of the event.
In the teaser, the phone builder celebrates June 1, the International Children's Day. In a call to action, OnePlus asks children from a few different countries to draw the OnePlus 3. We have to admit, the results are endearing and worth watching.
This is not the first time OnePlus has scheduled its release ceremonies late at night U.S. time.
In 2015, the company unveiled OnePlus 2 on July 27, at 11 p.m. EDT (July 28, 11 a.m. Beijing time). This year, the OnePlus 3 will meet its fans a bit earlier.
The launch will be anything but ordinary, as the company refrained from organizing a classic release. OnePlus invites all its fans to a virtual reality presentation that will take place in the specially crafted Loop space station. The simulation is best enjoyed via virtual reality headsets, and OnePlus already sent out 30,000 Loop VR devices to its fans on a first come, first serve basis.
Insiders familiar with the matter say the first OnePlus 3 units will be available for purchase via VR as well.
Rumors that placed the release date on June 14 permeated the media last week, when a member of OnePlus leaked the information during a conversation with a customer.
As a reminder, the OnePlus 3 will rely on the mighty Snapdragon 820 chipset for processing power. The basic variant of the device will come with 4 GB of RAM, while the more expensive one will feature 6 GB of RAM. Both variants will land carrying 5.5-inch Full HD OLED screens able to display resolutions of 1,080 x 1,920p. The power sources of the devices will be 3,000 mAh batteries.
The camera combo will consist of a 16-megapixel rear sensor and a powerful 8-megapixel selfie camera.
The device will be available in three color options, namely gray, gold or black. Some rumors say we might even see NFC support on the device.
Those concerned about not receiving an invite for an OnePlus 3 can relax, as the company pulled the plug on the practice for its latest flagship.
"With the OnePlus 3, we're officially saying goodbye to invites," the OEM notes.
We will keep you posted as soon as we know more about the upcoming OnePlus 3.
