In March end this year, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy A9 Pro phablet which touts a massive 6-inch screen and 4 GB of RAM. Now the international variant of the Galaxy A9 Pro has reportedly received Wi-Fi certification, suggesting that its launch is around the corner.
A few days ago, we reported that the international variant of the Galaxy A9 Pro - carrying the model number SM-A910F - was spotted on Zauba, an Indian import and export tracking site. This hinted that Samsung was gearing up to make the handset available beyond Chinese shores. The existing model of the phablet carries the number SM-A9100.
Now, according to a report from Polish publication Tablety, the international model of the phablet has attained Wi-Fi certification on May 26. Interestingly, the standard variant and a dual-SIM model of the smartphone have been certified by the regulatory body. The publication also shared an image of the certification approval.
"The Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro SM-A910F received certification from the Wi-Fi Alliance , which bring it closer to market launch . Interestingly, in Europe, will be available as model SM-A910F / DS, which is a variant of the two slots for SIM cards! (translated)" reports the publication.
Since the Galaxy A9 Pro's international variant has received the green signal from the Wi-Fi Alliance (WFA), its release seems imminent.
The pricing of the international variant of the Samsung phablet and which regions it will be released in are not known. However, considering a Polish retailer has allegedly begun accepting bookings for the Galaxy A9 Pro, the phablet is certainly poised to hit European shelves.
To refresh your memory, the Galaxy A9 Pro sports a 6-inch screen with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. Under the hood, it houses a powerful octa-core Snapdragon 652 processor. However, Samsung may opt for its own Exynos SoC for the international model of the Galaxy A9 Pro.
The phablet also boasts a powerful non-removable 5000 mAh battery and 32 GB of on-board memory, which is expandable up to 128 GB thanks to the microSD card support. The Galaxy A9 Pro also touts a 16-megapixel primary camera with OIS and an 8-megapixel selfie camera.
The Chinese model of the Galaxy A9 Pro comes pre-loaded with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. The non-international variant of the Samsung phablet comes in three hues: Rose Gold, Pink and White.
It will be interesting to see when and if the Galaxy A9 Pro SM-A910F makes its international debut. Whether the Samsung smartphone will make its way to the U.S. needs some circumspection.
