Participating in the time-honored tradition of offering holiday-themed sales, HTC is giving away RE Cameras to those who buy a new HTC 10 through the company's online store.
It's part of a site-wide Memorial Day sale, which is seeing huge discounts levied on accessories ranging from earbuds and the HTC Fetch to screen protectors and Ice View cases.
To be clear, the sale isn't exclusive to HTC 10 accessories. HTC is also taking 40 percent off the prices of accessories for various HTC handsets.
And for those who already have an HTC 10 or are planning on purchasing one soon, HTC is offering a deep discount on the RE Camera.
The handheld action cam is marked down from $200 to $80, a discount of 60 percent, and that 40 percent off accessories deal applies to the RE's mounts, chargers and pouches.
The RE Camera, unveiled in 2014, is compatible with both Android and iOS devices. It's about 4 inches tall, roughly an inch wide, and it weighs about 0.15 pounds (66.5 grams).
The camera captures images at resolutions of up to 16 megapixels, its video caps out at 1080p at 30 frames per second and it's capable of recording a 4x slow motion video. It has a wide angle lens that offers a 146 degrees cone an f2.8 aperture.
Its grip sensor will wake the camera whenever the RE is picked up, and with an 820 mAh battery, this action cam can go for close to two hours on a charge. The RE accepts microSD cards, so space management shouldn't be an issue in most cases.
"Focus on the moment, not your camera," HTC says. "Remarkably fun and easy to use, RE turns on in your hand, shoots photos and videos without a viewfinder, and streams everything to your phone for easy editing and one-press sharing."
While HTC is selling the RE for cheap, Verizon recently began rolling out an update that addresses several performance issues with the HTC 10. The update also addresses Wi-Fi stability and delivers miscellaneous bug fixes — get it here.
