Destiny servers are down thanks to Lizard Squad hacker group - Call of Duty: Ghosts servers are down also

The Lizard Squad hackers have struck again after the team managed to bring the newly launched video game, Destiny, to an almost complete halt. Many gamers on both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 were complaining about being unable to connect to their game, not knowing it was the cause of the notorious hacker group.

Lizard Squad is well known for DDoS attacks to bring down websites and video gaming servers. The group has done so against the PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, and several Sony related websites in the past, so it is not particularly surprising to realize that Destiny has been targeted.

Destiny is the most played First Person Shooter right now, which could be the sole reason for Lizard Squad choosing to bring the servers down. Obviously, gamers who have figured out what is going on are extremely angry, and are also calling for the heads of the culprits.

Interestingly enough, Destiny is not the only video game targeted by Lizard Squad. We understand that Call of Duty: Ghosts was also on the list, as several players complained of their inability to enter servers or log into their game.

It's a worldwide problem at the moment, and it will only stop with the intervention of the authorities, or if the hacker group chooses to cease all attacks.

Still, it appears the group has gone too far after someone sent Sony Online Entertainment President John Smedley, a picture of his father's tombstone. Using DDoS attacks is something we condemn, but is still able to look the other way; however, sending a man an image of his dead father's tombstone is downright shameful.

"Some idiot/wanna be hacker decided to send me a picture of my Dad's grave out here in San Diego," says Smedley on Twitter. "You will be found."

It appears the Lizard Squad has a major issue with John Smedley, because he was the recent target of an American Airlines bomb threat. As it turned out though, the whole thing was fake and was later realized that it was started by the hacker group.

We're not sure what John Smedley has done to the Lizard Squad group, but it must be serious for them to be targeting him in such a way.
