Samsung Teases Limited Edition Galaxy S7 Edge: 'Injustice: Gods Among Us' Smartphone

A special edition Batman-inspired Samsung Galaxy S7 edge is likely to make its way to the market.

Samsung launched the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge during this year's Mobile World Congress event in February. The only difference between the two devices is that the screen of the Galaxy S7 edge extends to the sides of the handset.

The Korean company has released limited edition devices in the past, such as the Iron Man limited edition Galaxy S6 edge in partnership with Marvel, and a diamond-encrusted Gear S2 smartwatch. Now, Samsung teased smartphone enthusiasts with a limited edition Injustice: Gods Among Us Galaxy S7 edge via its official Twitter handle.

Injustice: Gods Among Us is a fighting video game based on characters from DC Comics. The game was released in 2013 and the latest tie-up with Samsung also hints at a major update or new version of the game arriving soon.

Being a Batman-themed Galaxy S7 edge, the upcoming handset could have a Batman symbol engraved on it, probably at the rear side of the phone. The limited edition mobile phone may also come bundled with some matching accessories like a protective cover and wireless charger. A partnership with DC Comics will make fans wait for a Batman or a Wonder Woman-themed Samsung handset in the near term.

Apart from the physical appearance, the hardware specs of the limited edition Galaxy S7 edge are likely to remain the same. The Galaxy offering has a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED screen with a display resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels.

Just like the regular U.S. variant of the Galaxy S7 edge, the limited edition should also run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. The phablet has 4 GB of RAM and is available with 32 or 64 GB of internal storage. The phone also has a microSD card slot to expand the storage capacity of the device.

The Galaxy S7 edge is equipped with a 12-megapixel (f/1.7 lens) rear-facing camera with autofocus, smile detection, face detection and optical image stabilization (OIS).

Running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system the Galaxy S7 edge has a price tag of $799.99. However, it is likely that the limited edition of the phone may have a slightly steeper price.

Samsung has not confirmed the release date for the limited edition Galaxy S7 edge, which means customers will have to wait until the company reveals more information about the smartphone.
