Michael Keaton is reportedly in talks to be a villain in Spider-Man: Homecoming, but who will the actor play? There's actually more than one option to choose from apparently.
According to an exclusive by JoBlo.com, The Vulture will be the main villain for the movie but he will not be alone. Making it possible for him to take flight in the first place is The Tinkerer, who will be helping The Vulture make his suit using Chitauri tech left behind from the Battle of New York.
Matthew McConaughey was actually first offered the opportunity to play the main villain in Spider-Man: Homecoming so that may rule out Keaton as The Vulture. However, as details have not been released, it's still entirely possible for him to be Peter Parker's primary antagonist.
Then again, it also makes sense for Keaton to be The Tinkerer as it is an older, kookier role right up his alley. Not to mention that the role has high reappearance potential, functioning as support for other Marvel villains in the future.
Outside of the outright-villain arena, there's also another possible role that would suit the actor: Norman Osborn. Keaton does have the paternal charm and smarts to do the character justice. Last time we saw Osborn, he was being played by Willem Dafoe, who has now moved on to good-guy roles at the other side of the fence as part of Justice League.
Set to come out on July 7, 2017, Spider-Man: Homecoming will star Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, whom we first saw in action in Captain America: Civil War. Given Tony Stark was a catalyst for his inclusion in the fight, Robert Downey Jr. will consequently be appearing in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Aunt May, to be played by Marisa Tomei, will of course be there, as well as Zendaya as Michelle and Tony Revolori as Manuel.
Spider-Man: Homecoming will be directed by Jon Watts, working off a script from Jonathan M. Goldstein and John Francis Daley. Stan Lee, Beatriz Sequeira and Matthew Tolmach are on board as executive producers, with Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige as producers and Eric Hauserman Carroll as co-producer.
