Spider-Man will be in the company of superheroes when he makes an appearance in Captain America: Civil War, but will the same company be around in his standalone movie?
According to Kevin Feige, it's possible.
Talking to Entertainment Weekly, the Marvel Studios president said the plan was not only for Spider-Man to come out in Civil War, but to also have characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe appear in the upcoming Spider-Man film.
"He is in the universe now, and the fun of the universe is that characters go back and forth," said Feige.
Sony holds the license for Spider-Man and all other characters associated with him, but the disappointment over The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (don't worry Sally Field, it's not all on you), plus the hacking scandal that rocked its management, prompted the studio to share the character with Marvel Studios, given it was allowed a deadline extension before the property reverted back to its original owners, as previously agreed.
This led to the Spider-Man reboot, which is slated to be released July 7, 2017, with Tom Holland portraying Peter Parker and Jon Watts directing.
With Sony and Marvel Studios playing nice with each other, this means that the Spider-Man storyline could be integrated into those of Captain America, Iron Man, The Hulk and basically everyone else in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
However, while he has said that the inclusion of other Marvel characters in the standalone Spider-Man movie is highly likely, Feige can't say just yet who will be joining Parker.
Maybe first up will be everyone on #TeamIronMan?
In Civil War, Spider-Man joins Black Widow, Black Panther, War Machine and Vision in siding with Tony Stark and choosing to accept government oversight for anyone with inhuman capabilities.
