Fox Releases First Teaser Trailer For 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show'

There were mixed reactions when Fox announced that it's rebooting The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

While many have called on the network to leave the cult classic alone, the project is definitely all systems go, especially now that Fox has released a teaser trailer for the TV movie.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show started out as a London musical in 1973. It hit Broadway in 1975 but didn't stay long. In the same year, the movie adaptation came out and it went on to become one of the biggest cult classics of all time.

The stage show got a second shot at Broadway in 2000, where it ran for several years. For 2016, Fox is bringing Dr. Frank-N-Furter and the rest of the gang to the small screen for a TV movie.

A lot of fans can't quite wrap their heads around anyone else playing the sexually ambiguous alien mad scientist Dr. Frank-N-Furter other than Tim Curry, but Laverne Cox looks like she can pull off the iconic role without a hitch. Fans shouldn't feel too down though because Curry will still be part of the TV movie as the criminologist narrator.

Aside from Cox and Curry, The Rocky Horror Picture Show will also star Victoria Justice as Janet Weiss, Ryan McCartan as Brad Majors, Reeve Carney as Riff Raff, Christina Milian as Magenta, Adam Lambert as Eddie, Annaleigh Ashford as Columbia, Ivy Levan as Usherette, Ben Vereen as Dr. Everett Scott and Staz Nair as Rocky, Dr. Frank-N-Furter's adonis of a creation created solely for fulfilling the good doctor's desires.

High School Musical's Kenny Ortega is on-board as director, choreographer and producer. Other producers include Gail Berman and Lou Adler, who was also producer for the original film.

Aside from the TV movie, Rocky Horror Picture Show fans can also expect a mobile game called Touch Me. There is no word on when the game will be released but it is likely to come out when the TV movie arrives in fall. Fox has not announced an exact date of release but does list The Rocky Horror Picture Show as coming in October, just in time for Halloween.
