Verizon Raises Data Limits On Prepaid Plans, But There's A Catch

Verizon is revamping two out of three prepaid plans, bumping up the data limits, but to get the most out of the deal, subscribers must sign up for Auto Pay.

To get things started, customers will get 3 GB or 6 GB of data for the $45 or $60 plan respectively, but that'll dwindle down a bit when they're not a part of the Auto Pay program by 1 GB.

"Whether you're just starting out with your own wireless plan or simply love to have complete control of your wireless spending, prepaid plans give you the best network on the latest phones. Prepaid plans from Verizon keep you in control without the worry of overages or hidden fees," Rob Miller, Verizon vice president of consumer pricing, says.

These changes will take effect on May 15, and unlike the time that Verizon offered these exact plans back in February, they're going to stay indefinitely this time around.

To put this development into perspective, the $45 previously came with 1 GB of data, while the $60 option tripled that to 3 GB. Even back then, subscribers had the choice to register for Auto Pay to take them up a notch by 1 GB.

Long story short, Verizon customers will soon get 1 GB more on the second tier and 2 GB on the third. To clear things up, the first level is a $30 plan that's restricted to Wi-Fi only, but it should be pointed out that it comes with unlimited talk and unlimited text to United States, Mexico and Canada. Only the highest option offers unlimited talk to Mexico and Canada.

For those who don't know, Auto Pay is Verizon's direct payment plan that lets consumers pay bills automatically - yes, the name is pretty straightforward.

Needless to say, more data equals to happier subscribers, but regardless of that, let us know in the comments section about what you think of the upcoming changes that the carrier will implement.
