After more than a decade, the granddaddy of the FPS genre is set to make a major comeback with the release of Doom for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC this Friday. It's been a long time coming, and more than a few gamers are eager dive into the hell once again in order to put the demons back where they belong.
As is the case with most AAA releases, there are a number of different versions of Doom available. From special editions to preorder bonuses, knowing which version is which and what each retailer has to offer when it comes to buying Doom requires a little bit of homework.
Too bad homework sucks. That's why we've gone ahead and compiled all the various preorder bonuses and collector's editions of Doom all in one place for your convenience. That way, you can spend less time trying to figure out from where you should buy the game and more time thinking about all the creative ways you're going to blast demons to bits.
Universal Demon Multiplayer Pack
Across nearly all retailers taking preorders for Doom (including GameStop, Amazon, Target and Best Buy), the preorder bonus is the same. The Demon Multiplayer pack includes a demon-themed armor set for use in multiplayer, six metallic paints, six one-time use hack modules and three Id logo patterns used for customizing armor and weapons.
GameStop-Exclusive Double-Sided Poster
Those who preorder Doom at GameStop will snag a double-sided poster (seen above) featuring the game's cover art on one side and a monstrous demon on the other.
Doom Digital Deluxe Edition
Grabbing the $99.99 digital deluxe edition of Doom straight from the Xbox Live or PSN storefronts will snag you the demon multiplayer pack outline above, as well as the game's season pass, which includes three DLC packs that will add additional multiplayer maps, weapons, armor sets, playable demons, hack modules, taunts and more.
Doom Collector's Edition
The game's $119.99 collector's edition includes the core game, the demon multiplayer pack, a steelbook case and most importantly, a 12-inch Revenant demon statue sporting LED lights and an internal slow-spinning turbine. Note that the collector's edition does not come with the game's season pass, which sells for $39.99 separately.
