Intel to open temporary 'experience' stores for holiday season

Close on the heels of Google saying that it will open pop-up stores called "Wonderlab" for showing off its latest hardware and software, Intel has announced that it too will open "experience" stores just for the holiday season.

Intel's "experience" pop-up store will be first seen in New York on November 23.

To lure visitors, Intel will be offering free coffee everyday. The store will also be screening free movies every Friday. The company plans to have more events staged in its stores in collaboration with the local artists.

Though much has been revealed about the retail stores already through a video, Intel Business Line Manager of Mobile and Communications John Wallace told an official statement with further details is going to follow shortly.

Intel is facing stiff competition from mobile chip makers like Snapdragon, Fusion, and Tegra and need to innovate. Through the retail stores, Intel will be able to increase more brand awareness as the consumers will get to know more about its offerings.

Expectations are the Intel stores will show off its peripherals like Creative Sensz3D camera. The Creative Sensz3D camera has been designed by Intel to achieve augmented reality features on PC.

The stores will run for two months and close in January 2014.
