Rumors of the next-generation Moto X device, also dubbed Moto X4 or Moto X (2016), have been circling the tech space for months, and a new leaked image shows what the upcoming smartphone may look like. The post also suggests that the fourth-generation Moto X mobile phone may sport an AMOLED ShatterShield display.
The leaked image, posted by a Google Plus account with the handle "hellomotoHK," shows the front of the device, which has the company's "Moto" logo on top of the fingerprint sensor located at the bottom of the smartphone.
Customers can accidentally drop their handset while taking it out from a pocket or a bag or while talking and texting. Drops may damage the screen of a device, which is why owners try to protect their phone with a good case. In such situations, the ShatterShield technology comes to one's rescue and is beneficial for those who do not want to add bulk to their smartphone but want to keep their mobile phone safe.
Motorola launched the Droid Turbo 2, exclusively for Verizon Wireless in the United States, which has the world's first shatterproof screen. The Moto X4 could be the company's second phone to sport the feature.
"Our exclusive Moto ShatterShield display technology is an integrated system consisting of five layers designed from materials that absorb shock from impact and are guaranteed not to shatter," said Motorola.
The leaked image of the purported Moto X4 does not reveal much but previous rumors claim that Motorola is planning to launch two models of the smartphone: Vertex and Vector Thin. Both variants will tout a big 5.5-inch AMOLED display.
The Vector Thin is said to the higher-end model of the two, with a Quad HD resolution than the Full HD display of the Vertex. The Vector Thin is also expected to get a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC, while its sibling is expected get a Snapdragon 625 chipset.
The Vector Thin may have 32 GB of on-board storage with 3 GB or 4 GB of RAM. On the other hand, the Vertex is alleged to have 16 GB storage with 2 GB RAM or 32 GB internal storage with 3 GB of RAM.
The Vector Thin model of the Moto X4 can be equipped with a 16-megapixel primary camera, while the Vertex is estimated to get a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera.
Speculations are rife that Motorola is planning to unveil the Moto X4 on August 24 this year.
Motorola has not yet revealed any details of the Moto X4 so all rumors regarding the upcoming phone should be taken with a pinch of salt.
