Super Mario Mash-Up Pack For 'Minecraft: Wii U Edition': Release Date, Price And Other Details You Need To Know

Nintendo has just announced that Super Mario is coming to Minecraft: Wii U Edition

Fans of the Super Mario franchise will welcome the update with wide open arms, as it will combine one of the longest-standing video game franchises in history with one of the more recent but increasingly popular ones.

Here is everything you need to know about the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack for Minecraft: Wii U Edition.

Contents

Included in the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack are 40 skins depicting characters from the franchise, including Mario, Luigi, Wario, Bowser and Princess Peach.

In addition to the skins, the update will add world and item textures, Super Mario building blocks and 15 tracks from Super Mario 64. There will also be a pre-made world carrying a Super Mario theme.

Using the content included in the update, players will be able to recreate Super Mario locations within Minecraft, or create their own as inspired by the franchise.

Release Date And Price

Nintendo will be launching the update as a free one on May 17, which is exactly one week away. That will provide Minecraft gamers on the Nintendo Wii U with enough time to plan what they would build once the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack arrives, though one week could be too long a wait for overeager fans.

On June 17, the retail version of Minecraft will ship for the Nintendo Wii U. The disc, which will cost $29.99, will include the Super Mario content.

Platform

The Super Mario Mash-Up Pack was only announced for the Wii U version of Minecraft. Gamers on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, unfortunately, will likely be missing out on this update.

Minecraft, with the upcoming release of the Super Mario update, will likely maintain its standing as one of the most popular titles in the market. The game's developers have not been resting, with Minecraft also recently released into virtual reality through Minecraft: Gear VR Edition for the Samsung Gear VR headset.
