The new trailer for Mafia III will have adrenalin junkies excited as it gives a peek into all the action - the in-game driving action and burning of rubber - as they cruise through the streets of New Bordeaux!
On May 6, publisher 2K Games and developer Hangar 13 released the new video teaser for the impending action-adventure game on YouTube.
"Get an inside look at the driving in Mafia III as Lincoln Clay tears up the streets of new Bordeaux," notes 2K Games.
The 1-minute 24-second video not only shows off the incredible driving action, but also offers some insights as Matthias Worch, the design director, shares his views on the game's driving mechanics, as well as the design of the vehicles. Worch reveals that the team attempted to achieve what they have dubbed "Hollywood action driving" in Mafia III.
The design director also disclosed that the team wanted gamers to get the feeling of being a stunt driver - as though the player was physically present on the sets of an action movie from the 1960s. Essentially, Mafia III will be a stern test of one's driving skills - or lack thereof!
If you're wondering about the cars' design, the vehicles have been created by professionals with degrees in automobile engineering. As a result, the cars are bound to be close to the real deal.
Worch also explained that while driving through New Bordeaux, the gamer will encounter different terrains which will affect the vehicle. Therefore, the manner in which the car will maneuver on a rainy road, a muddy setting, or a dry one will all vary.
Denby Grace, the executive producer of Mafia III, also shared in the trailer what gamers can expect from the action-packed title when they finally take to the wheels upon its release. Grace let on that in the context of the cars, the team is taking an approach similar to that of GTA. Basically this translates to the mechanic that players will be able to drive any car around. Once they have driven for 5 to 10 minutes, they will have an idea of how to handle the vehicle, enabling them to burn some rubber around the streets of New Bordeaux.
In the past, the developer has asserted that each vehicle will be different from the other in its own way. Moreover, gamers should not expect a "sim" experience whilst driving. The developer has also confirmed that Mafia III will have loads of great music from the era.
Mafia III is poised for release on Oct. 7 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Check out the new trailer of the game below.
