Samsung Galaxy Note Edge not coming to the UK at launch

Mobile phone retailer Clove revealed that Samsung's Galaxy Note Edge will not be available in the United Kingdom during the day of its official launch.

Clove reported the issue on its official blog after receiving information about the matter from distribution channels, while waiting for Samsung's response for confirmation.

In addition to the Note Edge not being available in the U.K. upon its launch, the smartphone will also be unavailable in most countries in Europe.

Clove added that for its customers in the U.K. that wish to buy the Note Edge, the retail company will be looking to acquire stocks of the smartphone from sources outside the U.K., in countries where the Note Edge will be available immediately upon its official launch.

Clove also said that while the smartphone is already up for ore-order, there is no final pricing yet for the Note Edge. Customers wishing to pre-order for the phone may signify their intent to do so with the retail company without having their credit cards charged yet, and once the price for the Note Edge is confirmed, Clove will contact customers to confirm the pre-orders.

Pricing for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, however, has been confirmed by Clove to be £575 including VAT, with the first stocks of the device arriving on the week of Oct. 13.

The Note 4 was unveiled on the same event where the Note Edge was introduced.

While sporting similar specifications as the Note 4, the main feature of the Note Edge is its curved, wrap-around display that provides users with quick access to notifications, apps and settings through the Edge screen.

The Edge screen functions as a second display to the smartphone. With the Edge screen wrapping over the device's right side, space on the main screen is freed up. Users may operate the Edge screen without disturbing the smartphone's main screen.

"Samsung's relentless pursuit of the best in innovation through the optimization of mobile technology and the user experience has led to the debut of the innovative and unique Galaxy Note Edge," the company said in its press release.

The Note Edge sports a 5.6-inch Quad HD+ Super AMOLED display that has a 2560 x 1440 resolution. It is powered by Android 4.4 KitKat and a 2.7 GHz quad-core processor with 3GB RAM. The smartphone also has a 16MP rear-facing camera and a 3MP front-facing camera.

The phablet measures 151.3mm x 82.4mm x 8.3mm, and weighs in at 174g.
