Samsung Galaxy J2 (2016) Leaks, Makes Appearance On AnTuTu And Reveals Specs

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy J2 (2016) has made an appearance on AnTuTu benchmark. The listing reveals it will boast a 720p display, 8-megapixel rear camera, 2 GB of RAM and run Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box.

Over the last few years, Samsung has launched many of its flagship and most popular smartphones in pairs, likely to give customers a choice and also help the company sell more handsets in the process. The company began this when it introduced the Galaxy Note 4 and its first mainstream smartphone with its new flexible display hardware and technology, the Galaxy Note Edge, in September 2014.

Samsung has since gone on to launch smartphone duos like the Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, Note 5, S6 Edge+, Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge simultaneously.

It most recently announced updates to its mid-range Galaxy J series in the form of the Galaxy J5 (2016) and Galaxy J7 (2016). And it now appears Samsung is preparing to launch a new member of that series.

The Samsung Galaxy J2 (2016) has made an appearance on AnTuTu benchmark, revealing some of the smartphone's main specs in the process. It scored 1274 in multi-core and 404 in single-core tests.

The Samsung Galaxy J2 (2016) will reportedly pack in a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 and run Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. The handset is powered by a 1.2 GHz Spreadtrum SC8830 processor and Mali 400 GPU (graphics processing unit). The device will include 16 GB of internal storage, which can be increased via its microSD expansion slot.

The Galaxy J2 (2016)'s camera capabilities will feature an 8-megapixel rear shooter with LED flash, autofocus, 1080p video recording and 5-megapixel front facing camera for selfies and video chat. While the smartphone's battery wasn't listed, it should be larger than that of last year's Galaxy J2, which included a removable 2,000 mAh battery.

There's no word on when Samsung plans on officially announcing the Galaxy J2 (2016), but as always, we'll keep you posted on any new details.
