The search for a missing woman and a hidden colony of synths will transport players to Far Harbor, Fallout 4's largest expansion to date. The DLC is set to arrive on May 19, and now Bethesda is giving fans a peek at what's in store with a brand-new trailer.
Players will embark on their journey to Far Harbor by taking on a new case with the Valentine Detective Agency. Once arriving in the mysterious town in former Maine, it quickly becomes clear that tensions are running high. The local townspeople, the synths and the Children of Atom are all at each other's throats, and it will be up to the player to forge a lasting peace between each group or throw them even deeper into conflict.
Speaking of conflict, Far Harbor looks to have plenty of it. In addition to new factions to deal with, a number of new creatures will also be making their debut. Terrifying crustaceans and monstrous lantern fish are just a few of the new terrors players will have to deal with.
Thankfully, Far Harbor looks to bring new weapons and armor to the table. We see a brief glimpse of a fishing hook in the trailer, as well as what appears to be a dive suit. That may confirm the underwater segments that have been rumored since the DLC's announcement. Supposedly the base game was set to have underwater areas for players to explore, only for them to be cut during development. If that's the case, it would certainly make sense for them to appear in the game's most ambitious expansion to date.
We also get a look at what appears to be a new type of power armor. While it's hard to tell exactly, it looks like the town's leader has a lever-action rifle, a weapon that has appeared in previous Fallout titles but was missing from Fallout 4.
Here's Bethesda's official description of the DLC:
"Far Harbor features the largest landmass for an add-on that Bethesda Game Studios has ever created, filled with new faction quests, settlements, lethal creatures and dungeons. Become more powerful with new, higher-level armor and weapons. The choices are all yours."
You can check out the trailer below. Far Harbor will be released on May 19 and is available standalone for $25 or comes as part of Fallout 4's $50 season pass.
