Motorola announced that it will start accepting pre-orders for the Moto X on Tuesday. The company also said it will be bringing new stocks of the Moto 360 back to its store shelves but "quantities will be limited."
In a blog post written on Sunday, Motorola said it is opening pre-orders for the Moto X, the company's newest flagship phone, along with three other products Motorola unveiled earlier this month starting 12:01 A.M. on Sept. 16 Central Time. These include the Moto X Pure Edition, the Moto Hint Bluetooth headset and the Moto Turbo Charger.
Continuing with its strategy of equipping their products with high-end specs for lower prices, Motorola will be selling the 2014 Moto X for $99 on a two-year contract with AT&T and will make the smartphone available from other carriers "soon." The Moto X is powered by a 2.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor and 2 GB of RAM and boasts of full-HD resolution on a 5.2-inch screen. It has a 13-megapixel camera, a 2,300mAh battery, and is equipped with near-field communication (NFC). Storage is available in 16 GB and 32 GB. The off-contract Moto X Pure Edition comes with an unlocked SIM and an unlockable bootloader. Motorola sells the Pure Edition at $499.
The Moto Hint, which sells at $150, is a discreet Bluetooth earbud with a few smart features. Motorola says the device will fit right into the user's ear because of its size, even though it does not have an ear hook. An infrared proximity sensor tells the device when it is placed to someone's ear, making it to automatically turn on. When connected to the ear, calls on the user's smartphone are also automatically re-routed to the Moto Hint. The Moto Hint is compatible with several devices outside Motorola's product line and has a Bluetooth range of 150 feet.
The Turbo Charger is a fast charger for Motorola's newest devices. The company claims it can give its smartphones up to eight hours of battery life on a single 15-minute charge.
Motorola also announced that the Moto 360 smartwatch will be available again for sale on the company website on Tuesday. The company released the Android Wear smartwatch, one of the most hotly anticipated devices in the technology industry this year, last week but rapidly sold out within hours of the Moto 360's launch. For those who were disappointed because they were not able to get their hands on the round-faced smartwatch last week, this is what Motorola has to say:
"You'll want to hurry as quantities will be limited."
