Apple's upcoming iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus have been dominating headlines lately. Schematics for what is reportedly the "iPhone 7 Pro" have been published and claim the smartphone will include a dual-rear camera, wireless charging, and the same dimensions as that of the current iPhone 6s Plus.
When Steve Jobs opened Macworld in January 2007, his keynote was one of the showman's best performances and will go down in history as the day Apple turned the mobile world upside down. True to Jobs' promise, the iPhone would reinvent the phone.
Steve Jobs announced that Apple had an ambitious goal of selling 10 million iPhones in 2008. While many doubted the $600 smartphone with a 2-year contract would face an uphill battle to garner that number, Apple announced in October 2008 that it officially surpassed 10 million iPhones sold.
In contrast, Apple's latest iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus sold more than 13 million devices during its first weekend of sales. The pair was so popular that an availability locator site was created to help customers track down the exact iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus they desired.
Apple cut component orders for the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus by 30 percent in January due to slowing demand for its flagship smartphones.
The company's next-generation iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus/Pro first made headlines in November when a report claimed that Apple was planning to remove the standard 3.5mm headphone port and replace it with its proprietary Lightning connector in order to make the handsets thinner.
A new report from Japanese magazine, Mac Fan has published what it claims are schematics for the higher end 5.5-inch "iPhone 7 Pro." The image backs up previous claims that the phablet would boast a dual-rear camera, no 3.5mm headphone port, and the company's Smart Connector found on the 12.9-inch and 9.7-inch iPad Pro. This feature would presumably allow the smartphone to charge wirelessly on a Smart Connector-enabled charger and add other accessories without blocking the Lightning port.
The iPhone 7 Pro schematics also list its dimensions at 158.22mm x 77.94mm x 7.3mm, which are the exact same size as the iPhone 6s Plus. The source has a pretty good track record of reporting Apple news and most recently revealed the designs of the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, and 12.9-inch iPad Pro.
As always, take new iPhone rumors with a grain of salt and we'll report any additional iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus/Pro news as it comes out.
