LG has launched what is being billed as a more affordable LG G5. The LG X Cam boasts a 5.2-inch 1080p display and a similar rear dual camera setup as the latest flagship smartphone.
When LG unveiled the LG G5 at Mobile World Congress, the smartphone had two unique features that made it stand out from flagship rivals. The company designed the handset to be modular, which enables users to have the ability to remove its battery and pop a new one in by simply sliding out the bottom of the handset. There are modules of a digital camera, extended battery built-in, and a Hi-fi audio player.
The other unique feature LG introduced was a rear dual camera that allows users to capture wider images than any other smartphone on the market.
The LG G5's dual camera just made its way to the more affordable LG X Cam, which has been officially announced.
The LG X Cam features what the company calls a "Precision 3D Arc Glass Design" that creates a unique tapered double wedge design. It packs in a 5.2-inch 1,920 x 1,080 Full HD display and is powered by a 1.14 GHz octa-core processor and 2 GB of RAM. The handset ships with 16 GB of internal storage, which can be increased via its microSD expansion slot, and runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.
Like the LG G5, the LG X Cam features a unique rear camera setup that consists of both a 13-megapixel and 5-megapixel cameras with autofocus, LED flash, and 8-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video chat. The rear camera can also capture 1080p HD video at 30 frames per second. The smartphone's dimensions are 147.7 x 73.6 x 5.2 to 6.9 millimeters and it has a 2,520 mAh battery.
While LG has officially announced the LG X Cam there's no word on when it will actually go on sale, what regions, or how much. As always, we'll keep you posted when details become available.
